So easy it is to look at a meme and say, “Yeah!” or “What?” or “Unbelievable.” They are unbelievable, just sound bites to emotion in these times distraught with chaos and inaccurate, misleading information.

It takes a bit of “gray matter” to research and unravel the issues. And I’m so tired of all of it? Aren’t you?

I’m tired and disheartened that on November 9th, 2016, I walked into my neighborhood Safeway differently. I didn’t want to look into the eyes of community members and neighbors and friends and wonder, “What were they thinking?”

Over these ten years, things have gotten worse. The kindest, most generous people now look at neighbors with disgust and hatred because of what the propaganda portrays.

Doesn’t matter — red or blue. I think we need to be accepting again, of one another.

The world is not black and white– each issue filled with sound bites are in reality more nuanced; they are gray matters, not black, not white.

This blog is meant to point out the gray in order to disperse the emotional talking points and find out what the sticky, sticking points to find both differences and also some common ground, or to at least admit the to one another that the issues are not the sound bites, but have important issues, facts, problems, and solutions that need debate rather than argument and name-calling. We can get together to discuss and solve issues of these times.

I won’t have answers; I’m just starting a conversation. I just want to clarify the gray, because it matters in order to keep our republic, our democracy.

About the logo.

I’m a learning artist. I drew this flower learning an application and a process. It’s a flower, yet the flower looks a bit like a brain, that gray matter that allows us to think, remember, and make decisions. It seemed like a good logo and a name for a blog that’s thinking through issues and decisions in order to find common ground where we can nurture our neighborliness again.
